Description:
The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the 2010 Study of the United States Institutes (SUSI) for Scholars program for multinational groups of university faculty and other related scholars. This is a rigorous six-week post-graduate academic program held at university campuses throughout the United States. Study of the United States Institutes are intensive post-graduate level academic programs with integrated study tours whose purpose is to provide foreign university faculty and other scholars the opportunity to deepen their understanding of American society, culture, and institutions. The ultimate goal is to strengthen curricula and to improve the quality of teaching about the United States in academic institutions abroad.
The institute programs offered in summer 2010 are:
U.S. Culture and Society
American Politics and Political Thought
Contemporary American Literature
U.S. Foreign Policy
Journalism and Media
Religious Pluralism in the U.S.
Application Instructions:
Completed applications must include:
- The application form can be downloaded here
- A personal statement prepared by the nominee (no more than one page) indicating why s/he is interested in participating in the program and what s/he expects to gain out of the experience.
- A supporting letter from employer describing why the nominee is a strong fit for the program
- An updated resume
- Copy of Egyptian National ID and/or passport
